The second annual HCQ pageant was held on May 22nd, 2015 at the Bayou City Event Center. Over three hundred guests, witnessed the crowning of the Haitian representative, Marie Germain, as the 2015 Miss Houston Caribbean. As the newly crowned 2016 Miss Houston Caribbean and native Haitian she decided to tackle the issue currently plaguing Hispaniola where a number of Haitians faced expulsion from the Dominican Republic after missing the deadline to apply to stay legally.
MISS HOUSTON CARIBBEAN
On May 22nd twenty-four year old native Hatian Marie Alexandra Germain was crown the 2015 Miss Houston Caribbean. She enjoys working out, dancing, cooking and volunteering with the Star of Hope Organization. Marie is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a degree in Psychology. She loves meeting new people and has played an active role in Psi Chi, Campus Activities Board, and the International Students Association. Her desire to make a difference has fueled her plans to pursue a second Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She is very proud of her Haitian roots, and is enthusiastic about playing her part to assist Haiti in reestablishing its former glory. Marie intends to use this opportunity to enlighten Houstonians on the wonders of Haiti and she also wants to be an advocate for foster children. Her ultimate goal is to start an organization which aids children in unstable living environments. She has personally experienced the hardship of moving from home to home and aims to be a role model and inspire others to work hard towards a better future. Marie has competed in numerous pageants and was crowned Miss Prairie View ASA 2012. She credits much of her success to the love and support of her friends, family, and God.
